Provenance

Sources

Where every claim in this demonstration archive comes from.

The visuals

No real photographs.

Every visual in this archive is drawn, produced by scripts/generate-archive-famille-assets.js: silhouette portraits, ruled ledger pages, stylised group photographs. No real faces, no real documents.

This is deliberate. A demonstration template filled with genuine archival photographs would raise two problems: the rights in those images, and the risk that a visitor takes them for a real family's collection.

Bibliography

The kind of sources a family archive rests on.

These references are invented along with the family. They show the form a real bibliography takes: series, dates, where it is held.

Citing

How to cite a page.

Every page carries a ready-to-copy citation in its footer, with its URL and its update date. That is what separates an archive from an album: it can be referred to.
